Beauty On A Budget: Skincare Savings-Serums

Welcome back to the Beauty on a Budget: Skincare Savings series! If you haven’t read my latest posts on skincare savings, I encourage you to give them a read through.

Now out of all the skincare products, serums are usually the pricier ones and for good cause. Facial serums are know for targeting recurrent skin concerns like dullness, blemishes, dryness and aging. Anything that’s going to reverse these problems will cost you a bit more than something like a cleanser. Not only that, but serums last a while because it doesn’t require much product for application.

Nonetheless, it’s not impossible to find effective serums still within your budget. Here are five serums that I’ve found to work and $20 or under:

  1. ACURE Brightening Glowing Serum-$19.99

This serum is perfect if you’re experiencing dull and dry skin. In the winter months I tend to get dry patches on areas of my face and this serum does the job of combatting it. With the antioxidant formula, it brightens the skin and adds a natural glow.

2. Differin 2% Hydroquinone Dark Spot Correcting Serum-$18.97

I’ve suffered from hyperpigmentation since my teenage years, but this serum seriously changed my life. The Hydroquinone formula worked to lighten my acne scars and bring more evenness to my skin tone. It can be used everyday to treat and prevent discolouration and acne scars.

3. SheaMoisture Night Resurfacing Serum African Black Soap-$18.84

If you didn’t know already, African Black Soap has so many benefits to the skin. This serum targets blemish-prone skin with its clarifying properties. I use this serum on the nights when I’ve had a breakout and within two days, I swear, my breakouts are gone!

4. CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum-$18.99

Another CeraVe product that doesn’t disappoint. This serum works on fine lines/wrinkles, textured skin, and blemishes all the benefits in one bottle. It has one of many favourite ingredients, hyaluronic acid, to moisturize my skin in the dry winter months. I like to use this serum interchangeably with the ACURE Brighting Glow Serum.

5. The Ordinary “Buffet”-$14.80

I had to save the best for last. What would one of my posts be without my best friend, The Ordinary? From the time I heard about this line of product, “Buffet” was always being talked about. I knew I had to get my hands on it. This serum gives an instant youthful glow! Although I’m still young, there’s nothing wrong with maintaining my youthfulness. It truly is the serum that keeps on giving.

Beauty tip: After applying serums to your face, press them into your skin to allow the product to penetrate.

Whether your skin suffers from dryness, oiliness, sensitivity, hyperpigmentation or blemishes, there’s an affordable serum out there for you that will make a difference in your skin. I highly recommend giving one of these a try and comparing to one of your more expensive serums.
