Beauty On A Budget: Skincare Savings- Moisturizers

Hi everyone! Welcome back to the last post of the Beauty on a Budget: Skincare Savings series! If you haven’t read my latest post on skincare savings, you can click here to give it read through.

To end off the series, I had to talk about facial moisturizers. Moisturizing is a step in my skin care routine that would be a sin to skip! If I do nothing else to my face, I have to cleanse and moisturize. I’m excited to share some of my top affordable moisturizers with you!

Why is Moisturizing so Important?

The most obvious answer is so our skin doesn’t dry out, BUT there’s more to it. Moisturizing on a regular basis prevents premature wrinkles, skin irritation and reduces the chance of skin problems, like acne. How many of you have noticed that if you don’t moisturize, your skin gets extremely dry or extremely oily? This is your skins natural reaction to the lack of moisture depending on if you have dry skin or oily skin.

If you have dry skin, skipping moisturizer only further dries out your skin and can lead to eczema and red patches. If you have oily skin, skipping moisturizer will promote the sebum in your skin to over produce oils which can lead to excess breakouts.

My Top Affordable Moisturizers

  1. Cetaphil DermaControl Oil Absorbing Moisturizer SPF 30-$13.78

This moisturizer works amazingly for those with oily skin. It super lightweight and actually works to absorbs the oil, leaving a matte finish. Like all Cetaphil products, it’s hypoallergenic so even those with sensitive skin can use it. I personally use this in the summer time as that’s when I get the oiliest. It’s also a bonus that it doubles up as a sunscreen!

2. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Water Gel-$14.12

Another great moisturizer for oily skin, this gel that contains Hyaluronic Acid helps to keep the skin looking plump and moisturized while controlling excess oil. I like to use this moisturizer when I skip primer in my makeup routine. It gives a good base for a smooth makeup application.

3. e.l.f. Cosmetics Fragrance Free Holy Hydration! Face Cream-$12.00

Holy Hydration is right! This moisturizer honestly gives the best hydration by absorbing into the skin right after you rub it in. It works well for all skin types. I love the moisture it offers and will usually put this on in my AM skincare routine. Plus, the price is unbeatable!

4. Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer-$9.99

This gel moisturizer works great for dry and sensitive skin. The oat formula gives lasting hydration and works great under makeup. In the dry winter months, I use this moisturizer to prevent dry patches in on my face. It’s so lightweight that you don’t even feel it after rubbing it in. This product is definitely a must try for those of you with dry skin!

5. Olay Complete UV365 Daily Moisturizer SPF 30-$13.99

This daily moisturizer is not only promotes healthy skin with its Vitamin E properties, but it works as a lightweight, non-greasy sunscreen. I like to use this on my light/no makeup days. It makes my skin feel soft and supple while still protecting it from the UV rays. I love how it leaves my skin with a natural glow.

6. Mario Badescu Hydro Moisturizer With Vitamin C-$18.00

I absolutely love this moisturizer. Anything with vitamin C has my vote! This moisturizer not only gives a healthy glow, but also works to improve skin tone and uneven texture. Vitamin C is great for skin blemishes and brings vibrance back to dull skin. I almost always have this moisturizer on deck.

Beauty tip: It’s recommend to apply moisturizer to damp skin. If you use toner, apply your moisturizer right after. If you skip the toner, apply moisturizer after washing and towel blotting your face.
